A cornerstone has been laid here for a new cultural center which will be erected during the next two years. The building will include a 3,000 seat concert hall which will be used by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and for national and international conferences, and a 300 seat chamber music hall.
The cornerstone laying ceremonies were attended by Berl Locker, co-chairman of the Jewish Agency, representatives of various Israel institutions and a delegation from the American Fund for Israel Institutions. The Fund has agreed to supply $600,000 toward the estimated 2,000,000 pounds needed for the project.
