In an editorial referring to the address the French Minister, M. Gaston Liebert had made at the fourth anniversary dinner of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the American Israelite says:

“The French Government in its bestowal of honors, especially in appointments to the Legion of Honor, has in recent months thus distinguished a large number of Jewish citizens, some fifty of them received such marks of recognition in the early autumn months. When this is contrasted with the treatment received by Jews in other parts of the continent it affords a very gratifying indication of the enlightened policy of the French Government”.
