The American Zionist Council announced today the postponement of a national conference which was scheduled to be held in Washington on June 4 to protest against Britain’s shipping of arms to Arab countries with the consent of the United Sates. The conference was also convoked for the purpose of asking the American Government to permit Israel to purchase arms in this country.

The postponement of the conference was due to the Anglo-American-French declaration last week on a new policy on arms shipments to the Middle East. In postponing the parley, the American Zionist Council made it clear that its objective has been achieved. “The situation is still unclear,” the Council stressed in the statement announcing temporary postponement of the Washington conference.
