The American Zionist Council today addressed an appeal to Secretary of State Dean Acheson urging the support of the U.S. Government for Israel’s claim of $1,500,000,000 against Germany. The appeal was signed by Louis Lipsky, chairman of the Council.

Mr. Lipsky justified Israel’s claims to German reparations on the grounds that nearly 500,000 Jewish survivors who miraculously survived Hitler, found safe haven in what is today the State of Israel and that “the process of absorption is still going on at a prodigious financial cost to the new and struggling country.”
