Americans are split on the role of the pro-Israel lobby in guiding Bush administration policy on Iraq and Iran, a poll showed. Asked whether “the work of the Israel lobby on Congress and the Bush administration has been a key factor for going to war in Iraq and now confronting Iran,” 39 percent of respondents “agreed” or “somewhat agreed,” while 40 percent “strongly disagreed” or “somewhat disagreed,” according to the poll carried out by Zogby International for the Council for the National Interest.
