An Australian Jewish magnate who was one of Benjamin Netanyahu’s backers is disappointed in the Israeli finance minister. Joseph Gutnick, a diamond billionaire affiliated with the Chabad movement, backed Netanyahu’s successful run for prime minister in 1996. But Wednesday he voiced dismay at Netanyahu’s failure to quit Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s Cabinet to protest the Gaza Strip withdrawal plan.
