An Islamic group threatened to carry out terrorist attacks in France unless a law banning religious symbols in schools is scrapped. In a letter to Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, copies of which were sent to two leading French newspapers, a group calling itself Commando Mosvar Barayev said last month’s vote, which includes a ban on Muslim veils, was “a declaration of war” against the Muslim world.
