* An Israeli lawmaker came out against a Depeche Mode concert scheduled for Tisha B’Av. Nissan Slomiansky of the National Union-National Religious Party bloc said Tuesday that the British pop band’s planned appearance at Tel Aviv’s Hayarkon Party on Aug. 3, a mourning and fast day, violates a status quo on public observance of Jewish festivals.
