An Israeli legislator reportedly wants the country’s leading Sephardic rabbi to issue an edict permitting pot smoking. Knesset member Roman Bronfman of Meretz called upon Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, spiritual leader of the Shas Party, to issue the edict, citing evidence of a more liberal approach to the subject among North African Jewry, the Jerusalem Post reported.
