The comment was published Thursday in The New York Times, which attributed the remark to a “senior Israeli military official” visiting Washington this week. According to the Israeli daily Ha’aretz, the official was Maj. Gen. Moshe Ya’alon, who will become the Israel Defense Force chief of staff in June.
