Yeshiva University marked its 31st anniversary as America’s first liberal arts college under Jewish auspices at a dinner here last night honoring Isidore Lipschutz, New York philanthropist, for his “long and devoted support of the school.”
Senator Kenneth B. Keating of New York, delivering the main address, hailed Yeshiva and other independent liberal arts colleges as “the best hope of America” in developing democracy. Charles H. Silver, president of the Board of Education, was chairman of the dinner, the proceeds of which went for undergraduate scholarships that annually total $1,000,000.
