The New York Times declared editorially today that “anti-alien campaigns of whatever nature are a sickening travesty of Americanism.” It added: “We can contribute nothing of more value to a sick world than proof that men and women of different racial origins can get along together peaceably and democratically.” The editorial was in connection with the appointment of President Emeritus William Allan Neilson as co-chairman of a committee of 100 sponsors for the fourth annual conference of the American Committee for Protection of Foreign Born in Washington next March 2.
