The Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith has commended the U.S. Senate for its passage of a comprehensive civil rights bill that will bar discrimination in about 80 percent of the nation’s housing. Dore Schary, national chairman of the ADL, said in a statement today that the time has come for “the House to act promptly on the Senate-approved measure, a necessary step in eliminating the barriers which have effectively condemned the vast majority of American Negroes to life in the ghetto.”
