An intensive program for combatting Nazi anti-Semitic propaganda throughout the Pacific slope is being under-taken by Harry K. Wolff, who is acting as western head of the Anti-Defamation League during the absence of Isadore M. Golden, now recuperating from a serious illness.
According to Mr. Wolff, a coast-wide speakers’ bureau is being organized for the purpose of sending speakers through the western B’nai B’rith district to refute Hitler propaganda and to spread the truth.
“Truth and justice” will be the slogan of these speakers as they move from place to place along the Pacific Coast, appearing before as many groups of all denominations as possible.
District No. 4 of the B’nai B’rith, for which this new bureau will function, comprises all of the territory in California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Nevada. The combined move against Nazi lies, however, will be extensive in scope, covering all of the western territory of the United States.
Spiritual idealism of all creeds was mobilized to eliminate intolerance at a rousing mass meeting held here Wednesday evening in honor of the three visiting speakers of the National Conference of Jews and Christians.
The three visitors, who have been touring the country on a mission of religious goodwill and understanding, are Father John Elliott Ross, professor and associate director of the school of religion in the University of Iowa; Rabbi Morris S. Lazaron of Baltimore; and the Rev. Everett J. Clinchy, director of the National Conference of Jews and Christians.
The meeting was held at the Tivoli theater and was attended by representative men and women of the three creeds represented by the speakers.
