Miss Bessie R. Burchett, teacher of Latin in the Philadelphia public schools, yesterday submitted her resignation, shortly before the Board of Education was to consider her dismissal on charges of fomenting race hatred and insulting the President of the United States. Miss Burchett has attracted attention in the past six years by extolling Nazi theories, addressing meetings of the German-American Bund and similar groups and distributing anti-Semitic literature. She will receive a $1,600 annual pension.
