Dr. Philip Auerbach, Commissioner of Jewish Affairs in Bavaria, today told eight Soviet newspaper correspondents who are touring the United States zone of Germany that anti-Semitism is very strong in Bavaria and is increasing.

Dr. Auerbach cited a batch of anonymous letters which he has received in the last few days, since he announced that he expects to visit the United States in September. The letters, using anti-Semitic epithets, expressed the hope that Dr. Auerbach would not return and would take with him all the Jewish people.
