Antisemitic Deputy and Polish Ex-minister Fight Duel over Anti Jewish Excesses

The duel between Deputy Stypulkowski, the National Democratic spokesman who defended the action of the National Democratic students in attacking the Jews during the sitting of the Seym on November 8th. and ex-Minister Miedzinski, the Government Party spokesman who replied to his speech, denouncing him and his Party as “wild and irresponsible degenerates, who stand for things done only by the scum of the people and in no way reflect the feeling of the Polish nation, was fought to-day.

Deputy Stypulkowski, who is himself married to the daughter of a converted Jew, felt himself insulted by Deputy Miedzinski’s denunciation, and sent his seconds to him the next day to challenge him to a duel. Pistols were used. Neither of the duellists was hit.
