One of the concrete results in the elections of Sunday, March 3, in the Jewish Electoral College of Salonica has been an appreciable check to the growth of the Communists. While at the elections of Sept. 26th, 1932, with the proportional system, 1,700 votes were gained by the Communist candidate, M. Michael Cazes, this time, together with his fellow Communist candidate, gained only 1,150 votes.
The number of votes polled by the Venizelist candidate, M. Aaron Chaki, 1,360, is slightly higher than those he obtained at the preceding election. Influenced by the general trend of public opinion, the Jewish electors voted solidly for opposition candidates, and M. Daniel Allalouf, who was elected in September, 1932 with 2,867 votes, was re-elected with 5,500 votes.
