The Palestine Arab Higher Committee today announced the formation of a “Palestine Government” at Gaza, behind the Egyptian lines in Palestine, Reuters reported from Damascus. Earlier this week, the Arab League announced the formation of such a government with Ahmed Hilmy Pasha, former military governor of Jerusalem, as its premier. The Arab League’s announcement was made over the protests of Transjordan and Iraq.
