Solomon Jacobson, eighteen-year-old watchman patrolling property belonging to the Jewish National Fund (Keren Kayemeth) was badly injured today in attempting to prevent the theft of stones from a quarry owned by the Jewish people.
Jacobson has been placed under arrest by government police on charges growing out of the incident.
When a group of Arabs descended upon the quarry on Jacobson’s beat in the Haifa Bay area with the intention of stealing some of the stone lying about, Jacobson attempted to stop them. The Arabs thereupon attacked the young Jewish watchman, using the stones as missiles. In the melee Jacobson was seriously injured and one Arab was killed.
