Arabs in Fear of New Palestinian Currency Pacified by Government

The Arab press is giving much attention to the decision of the Government to introduce a Palestinian currency, independent of the Egyptian Parliament, and the step already taken in the appointment of a special committee to study the problem.

The Arab papers expressed the fear that the new Palestinian currency might introduce a Jewish monetary system, delivering the country into the financial control of the Jews. As a result of these attacks, the Government has issued today a statement declaring that the new Palestinian currency will be connected with the British system, and will be issued directly by the Palestine Government, and not by private banks.
