Arabs Report Clash Between Police and Jews Who Attempt to Enter Palestine from Syria

The Arab News Agency here today reports that about fifty persons, “believed to be Jews,” attempted to cross the Syrian border into Palestine, but were encountered by a frontier patrol.

“After an exchange of fire, wherein the would-be trespassers used machine guns and rifles, they escaped in the darkness,” the report said.

The S.S. “Empire” today arrived in Haifa landing 187 Jewish children from Greece and 38 Chalutzim from Bulgaria.
