Israel is prepared now to return less territory than it was after the Six-Day War, Premier Golda Meir told the Labor Party secretariat Thursday at the end of a marathon session in its internal debate on the question of the future of the administered territories.
She added that despite advantages which the present lines afforded, she would trade some areas for real peace. At Mrs. Meir’s recommendation, Labor Party secretary Aharon Yadlin announced the end of the debate which has continued sporadically for six months in eight sessions with 80 speakers. Mrs. Meir and Yadlin said that with elections slated for next fall, the party would be preparing its platform and that all views expressed in the debate would be considered.
