Archibald Silverman, a long-time Zionist and Jewish philanthropic leader, died here, after a heart attack at the age of 86.

He had been a member of the board of directors of the United Jewish Appeal and of the executive board of the Israel Foundation Fund. He also had served as a member of the board of the Jewish National Fund and of the executive committee of the Joint Distribution Committee. He also had been a member of the executive committee of the Zionist Organization of America.
