President Roosevelt’s report to Congress, this week, concerning the admission to this country of 1,000 refugees, during which he condemned persecution of Jews and other minorities by the Germans, was banned from the press by the Argentine Government, the New York Herald-Tribune reports today in a dispatch from Montevideo.
The dispatch states that this is the first time that a formal announcement by a President of the United States has ever been suppressed by the Argentine Government. It adds, however, that numerous statements to the press by President Roosevelt, and other high officials, including Secretary of State Hull and Under-Secretary Stetinius have been banned in recent weeks.
