Jewish commercial and industrial enterprises throughout Argentina will be closed from noon till 5 P.M. tomorrow as an expression of mourning for the millions of Jews massacred by the Nazis. Special prayers will be held in the synagogues and a general fast has been proclaimed by the DAIA, the central representative body of Argentina Jewry.
In an appeal issued by the DAIA, the non-Jewish population is asked to cooperate in making the mourning day an impressive protest against the Nazi killing of Jews. A large protest meeting will be held at a later date at which the Government of Argentina which still maintains diplomatic relations with Germany will be asked to intervene against “the menace of total extermination of the Jews in Nazi Europe.”
