Arie Pais, the Dutch Minister of Education, has written to the publishers of the widely used Dutch dictionary, “Koenen Endepols,” on the way it defines the term Jew. Pais, who is Jewish, wrote that complaints have reached him that the definition in the dictionary presents a negative image of the Jew. He expressed hope that a later edition of the dictionary would provide a more positive definition of the term Jew.
