Arieh Eshel Assumes Post of Israel’s Deputy Representative to U.n

Arich Eshel, for the last two years Israel’s Ambassador to Uruguay, today assumed the post of Deputy Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations.

Born in Germany, and a graduate in law and economics from the universities of Berlin and the Sorbonne in Paris, Mr. Eshel has been in the Israel diplomatic service since the rebirth of the state in 1948. Much of his service has been in Latin America or in connection with Latin American affairs. He was also Consul General in Vienna and, for two years, director of the East European Division of the Foreign Ministry in Jerusalem.
