Ariel Sharon applauded an E.U. statement calling on the Palestinian Authority to dismantle Hamas and Islamic Jihad. During a meeting Tuesday with E.U. foreign policy chief Javier Solana, Sharon also said Israel is interested in easing restrictions on parts of the Palestinian population not involved in terrorism, but that repeated terrorist attacks make that difficult to do.
