Aryeh Chen, recently appointed director of the Brit Ivrit Olamit, died in Jerusalem this week at the age of 51. Chen was born in Brazil and made aliya in 1952. In the mid-1960s he served as a teacher-emissary in Rio de Janeiro and in the 1970s in Holland. In Israel he was a teacher and headmaster and wrote plays on the side, some of which won notable success. He was appointed director of the Brit Ivrit Olamit only six months ago, but, according to officials of the World Zionist Organization under which Brit Ivrit Olamit functions, Chen already had made his mark as an innovator.
