The Nansen Office here was questioned today by leaders of the trade unions in Switzerland as to whether it would be in a position to help Jewish and other refugees from Germany who are now without passports, since they cannot return to Germany after the recent mass arrests there by the secret police of Jewish emigres who returned to Germany.

The administration of the Nansen Office replied that supplying Jewish refugees from Germany with Nansen passports would be outside its competence, since the refugees from Germany are to be dealt with by the autonomous body established by the League of Nations under James G. McDonald.
