“The only reply I can make to the amusing new of my death is, that I am not pleased with the obituaries and therefore have decided to go on living; at any rate until after my appearance as “Shylock’ and ‘King Lear’ in the English language at the ‘Garrick Theatre’ this season – which roles are to follow my present English vehicle ‘The Cod of Vengeance”.
