It adds that the fact that the Government has condemned the individual excesses is sufficient proof of its condonation of the organized programatic violence.
In a passage detailing the ruthlessness of the Nazis, the “Manchester Guardian” says the raids, particularly in North Berlin, continue unabated, as as well as the arrests and shooting down of prisoners for alleged attempts to escape. The imprisoned number many thousands; scores of non-partisans have been killed and hundreds injured. It says that there can be no doubt about the facts in spite of press denials, since the entire press is now pro-Government, while all others have been suppressed.
