The Australian Government will issue immigration pernits to certain categories of Jews in Europe, including chiefly relatives of Australian Jews who have spent the war years in concentration or labor camps or been deported, it was announced here today.
The announcement was made by Arthur Calwell, head of the newly-created Department of Immigration, and was hailed by Jewish leaders who said that Australian Jewry deeply appreciated the government’s action.
