Certain Jewish persecutees under the Nazi regime in this country have only until next August 31 to file their applications for special indemnification, it was announced here today by the Government Fund for Indemnification for Financial Losses of Political Persecutees.
The indemnification, according to the notice, will be paid only for losses suffered through confiscation of bank accounts, stocks, cash, mortgages, payment of emigration taxes and assessments imposed by the Nazi regime on Austrian Jews. Application forms, which must reach here not later that next August 31, are available from the Austrian Government foreign missions, or the Jewish Community Council in Vienna, or the United Relief Organization.
According to the official notice, it is not yet known how high the payments will be. But, on the basis of applications filed thus far, it is estimated that claimants entitled to this form of indemnification will receive about 40 percent of their losses.
