Professor Nicola Pende, official author of the Fascist racial manifesto proclaimed by the Mussolini regime in 1938, as Italy’s counterpart of the Nazis’ racist Nuremberg laws, will be honored with an award of a gold medal at ceremonies scheduled to be held here tomorrow on Capitol Hill, it became known today.
The medal has been voted by the International Committee for Unity and Universality of Culture, which cited the Fascist author for his “great cultural and scientific achievements.” Italian anti-Fascist and Jewish circles here today expressed “surprise” and “disapproval” of the award and of tomorrow’s ceremony.
