Autonomy for Lithuanian Jews to Continue, Smetona Pledges

President Antona Smetona today paid tribute to Jewish achievements and pledged eternal friendship to the Jews, during a visit to a Jewish war veterans’ celebration in connection with the tenth anniversary of Lithuania’s independence. Many Jews were decorated at the rally. The President was accompanied by his wife, the Minister of War and many Government officials.

Later receiving the editor-in-chief of the Juedische Stimme, President Smetona gave assurances that the autonomy of the Jewish minority would continue.
