Avraham Tory, whose diary told of day-to-day life as a Jew in wartime Lithuania, died Feb. 24 in Israel. Tory survived the war as a secretary of the Jewish Council of Elders in the Kovno Ghetto. Tory’s diaries were not published until the 1980s — their English title is “Surviving the Holocaust: The Kovno Ghetto Dairy” — because they were too emotional for him.
