David Barrett, who was Canada’s first Jewish provincial Prime Minister until his New Democratic (Socialist) government was defeated in the British Columbia elections six months ago, has regained his seat in the B.C. legislature. He was returned to office this week by a landslide 19,000-7000 majority in the Vancouver East bi-election and now heads the opposition in the provincial legislative body.
