The Bavarian provincial legislature today unanimously adopted a motion introduced by the Social Democratic Party calling on the government to introduce a law punishing the desecration of cemeteries. At the same time, the Free Democratic Party asked the government to appeal to the various dities to take over responsibility for synagogues which were abandoned because Jewish communities no longer exist to care for them.

Bavarian Premier Hans Ehard told the legislature that instances of neo-Nazi activity must not be underestimated. He added that all public prosecutors have been ordered to take action against any persons involved in such activity.
