The Bavarian Parliament has refused to ratify an agreement between the provincial Cabinet and the Jewish Restitution Successor Organization for a lump sum settlement of J.R.S.O. claims for heirless and communal Jewish property, it was reported here today from Munich.
The agreement involved the payment of some 20,000,000 deutschemarks (approximately $5,000,000) by Bavaria to the J.R.S.O. Since Parliament is scheduled to adjourn this week there is no prospect for immediate reconsideration. One Bavarian deputy, expressing what appeared to be the sentiment of his fellow legislators, said: “The days of dictation by foreign groups is over.”
