Several thousand Jews last night attended a mass meeting here addressed by Menachem Beigin, leader of the Herut in Israel, who is now on a visit in Mexico. About $50,000 was raised at a banquet tendered here in his honor. The money will be used for the support of invalids and war orphans of the Irgun in Israel.

Mr. Beigin was declared an honorary guest of the municipality of Mexico City and attended a special session of the Municipal Council held in his honor. He also visited the Mexican Parliament where he was greeted by a number of deputies. At a press conference, he declared that he does not believe that a third world war is imminent. He carefully refrained from criticizing the Israel Government and emphasized that as a citizen of the Jewish state he considered the present Israel Government his own, whether or not he agrees with its policies.
