Belgium’s ambassador to Israel was summoned to a meeting with a top Israeli official to discuss comments attributed to him in an interview. Wilfred Geens met Sunday with Israeli Cabinet Secretary Gideon Sa’ar after Geens was quoted, among other things, as calling Israel infrastructure minister, Efraim Eitam, a “fascist.” Geens told Sa’ar that he had been misquoted and that he plans to publish a statement clarifying his comments.
