Former Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion will join President Zalman Shazar to attend the obsequies for the late Sir Winston Churchill, the Government announced today.
Previous plans had included Mr. Ben-Gurion in the official delegation to the funeral, but he had not planned on going to London when the British Government indicated that Israel would be allocated only one seat in St. Paul’s Cathedral, where the Churchill funeral services are to be held Saturday. Today, however, the British Foreign Office notified Israel that there would be two seats reserved for Israel at the cathedral, and Mr. Ben Gurion’s name was added to that of President Shazar.
