The Israel Bond Organization in the United States today was awarded a Chanukah candelebrum by Prime Minister David Ben Gurion, in recognition of the organization’s “important share in the development of Israel.” The gift was given by Mr. Ben Gurion to the bond organization’s executive vice-president, Dr. Joseph J. Schwartz.
In a statement at the presentation ceremony, Mr. Ben Gurion drew attention to Israel’s need for “a healthy and expanding economy.” He said: “The Israel Bond Organization has played and is playing a crucial part in the practical attainment of this vital goal. I am happy to present you with this Chanukah menorah, as a token of our appreciation to the Israel Bond Organization for the great work you are doing in the rebuilding of Israel.”
