Benson Says Talks Proceeding on $25 Million Surplus Food Loan to Israel

Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson confirmed today that negotiations are under way in Washington on an Israeli request for $25 million worth of aid in the form of surplus food. The Secretary, on a one-day visit, viewed Israel’s agricultural development during a 60-minute tour of the country in a low-flying plane. He told a press conference here that Israel is “making the desert bloom and I am happy to see it.”
