The visit to the America of Dr. Hugo Bergmann, rector of the Hebrew University, resulted in greatly increased interest in the university, higher allocations for the institution in several places and formation of three new chapters of the American Friends of the Hebrew University, it was stated today by Samuel B. Finkel, executive secretary of the Friends.
Dr. Bergmann sailed for Palestine Saturday on the Rex after a visit of about six weeks during which he spoke in 14 cities. The new chapters were formed in Toronto, Montreal and Providence. Before leaving, Dr. Bergmann expressed gratification over the interest in the university evinced in the United States among Jews and non-Jews.
