The Chief Rabbi of Berlin, Rabbi Stevens Schwarzschild accused the Evangelical Bishop of Berlin, Bishop Otto Dibelius, of protecting Kazi war criminals, Reuters reported today. Rabbi Schwarzschild, in an open letter to Bishop Dibelius published in the Berlin Jewish weekly “Der Weg, said: “You are reported to have written to Baroness Schwerin von Krosigk, wife of the Nazi Government finance minister now serving a 10-year sentence for war crimes, describing the Nuremberg trials as an act of revenge on the part of the victorious nations. You described the trials as incomprehensible inhumanity. Speaking as a rabbi, may I ask you whether your letter is not incomprehensible ungodliness?”
