Heinrich Stahl, president of the Berlin Jewish Community, has been prohibited by the Gestapo from emigrating, according to private advices received here today.
The 70-year-old Jewish leader had planned to move to Brussels, where his children live. He had made all preparations to leave and had bade farewell to the Jewish community when the Gestapo ordered him to remain indefinitely as a hostage and resume his duties.
These advices also said that the Zionist Organization in Berlin was daily sending 50 persons ready for emigration to the Hilfsverein der Juden in Deutschland, most of whom were obliged to leave Germany illegally, without valid visas for any country.
