West Berlin’s Senate today paid special tribute to 19 men and women, all of them Christians, for helping and sheltering Jews during the Nazi regime.

In ceremonies here, the 19 non-Jewish Germans were awarded special documents expressing the city’s appreciation for their selflessness in risking their own lives and security on behalf of Jewish fellow-citizens during the Hitler era.
